Log Repair

There are many forces that can cause log decay, but if caught early enough, the life of the log can be extended by log repair. If the log is less than 50% decayed, the log can be repair and refaced, rather than replaced. This process starts with cutting out the decayed portion, followed by using a borate solution to stop further decay, then filling the gap with a wood epoxy to strengthen the remaining log, then adhering the new log face, and finally, staining the new log face to match the other surrounding logs.

If done properly, it will be difficult to pick that log from any other logs that are near it.
