It had been quite some time since this home was stained and much of the stain was flaking and failing, the chinking was also torn in some places and it was in overall need of restoration. The home had several examples of bee/woodpecker damage and even some squirrel damage as well. Luckily, the home did not have rot in the actual logs, they just had UV damage that caused them to be grayed out.
We started this job with a good log cleaning and pressure wash. With the stain in such bad shape, it came completely off after this and further stripping was not necessary to get to the good wood.
We made a custom stain using Sashco's Flex Tint, and this customer wanted it to be fully pigmented and a dark brown. The customer had started on chinking the home with Permachink products so we finished it using the same product. We did a skim coat over any chinking that was still good and tore out any chinking that had failed. We also repaired the various animal damage locations and caulked all of the windows and openings, including around the chimney so the client would no longer have air escaping.
When we left the job, the client now has a stained, chinked, and sealed home that is ready to host family and friends again.
