This client contacted us initially wanting information on media blasting their home. After our inspection and walk through, they decided to have us do a full restoration, including staining the home, repairing chinking, new caulking around the windows, doors, and corners, staining of the rafter system, windows, doors, and porch. The house was originally a dark brown stain and they wanted to go to as natural as possible.
We media blasted the home with our partners, Mid-Tenn Media Blasting first, making sure to get all of the old stain removed. Next, we sanded the entire home to make sure we had a smooth surface for the stain to bond.
Since the owners wanted the home as natural as possible and because the home was covered by a wrap around porch on all sides, we put 2 coats of Sashco's Colorfast primer with a single coat of Cascade in a matte finish. Those logs are as natural as can be while still having the protection.
The chinking was Sashco's Log Jam in mortar white around the home. The caulk that was used was Sashco's Conceal in Harvest Wheat.
The porch and rafter system were completed in a heavy body stain at the request of the client. The windows were done in a two-tone with the lighter color as the trim and the darker color for the windows.
The client was pleased with the result and was very happy to have their home back in time to enjoy their porch for the rest of the summer.
